Paddler Colton Muench from Fort Langley is currently attending the Canada Winter Games in Halifax, NS as a target shooter.  After one of his practice days he had the opportunity to meet up with Wesley Hammer (Canoe/Kayak BC’s most winning athlete and flag bearer at the 2003 Western Canada Summer Game) who is studying at Dalhousie University in Halifax.  Colton was able to visit many of the Dartmouth/Halifax clubs and tour the National Team’s Bell/Alliant Training Centre.

2010 Legacies Now unveils its new business model and, along with it, a
new brand

After more than a decade of social legacy work leading up to the 2010 Winter Games as 2010 Legacies Now, we’ve adapted and evolved our business model to embark on a new journey of advancing measureable social change. Today, to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the 2010 Winter Games, we launched our new brand to embrace our emerging role as a venture philanthropy organization: LIFT Philanthropy Partners.

LIFT is an evolution of 2010 Legacies Now and a legacy of the 2010 Winter Games. Over the past 10 years, we supported more than 12,500 sport, healthy living, literacy and other programs, reaching over two million people. As LIFT, we will build on this experience and continue to drive social change.

LIFT is a venture philanthropy organization that accelerates the growth and impact of selected not-for-profit organizations to create measurable social change through sport and healthy living, and literacy and lifelong learning. We aim to enhance social well-being and economic prosperity in communities across Canada.

“LIFT recognizes that not-for-profit organizations require support beyond funding to be effective, efficient and impactful,” said Bruce Dewar, CEO of LIFT Philanthropy Partners. “We work closely with these organizations to develop growth strategies, secure funding, and enhance their outreach and impact.”

LIFT will apply the concepts of venture capital finance and business management to our venture philanthropy investment model to create a lasting social impact in communities across Canada.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations to Nanaimo’s head coach Ashley Rowe and her husband Eduardo on the addition of their second daughter,  ‘Luna Mar’ on Wednesday January 26th at 11:15 pm.  Word has it that she has been wonderful; eating, sleeping and pooping well in the words of her tired mom.  Big sister Ilsa has been great with her and Zorro is excited to give big doggie kisses!
