Sean has been paddling canoe for 12 years. He has competed at two Canada Summer Games and at the Western Canada Games in 2003. He was a member of Canada’s Junior Development Team for a number of years and represented Canada at the Pan-American Canoe Championships in 2007, where he won a silver medal, and 2 bronze.
Outside of paddling, Sean is a full-time UBC student, studying biological engineering. After graduating in 2013, he hopes to continue on to become a doctor and work with children. In his spare time, Sean plays bass and drums and has been known to sing a few bars as well.
Sean is currently the head coach of the flat-water sprint program at False Creek Racing Canoe Club and has initiated a PaddleALL program for the club as well. He is a NCCP Level 2 coach.
His goal for this year’s Western’s team, is to provide a strong and experienced level of support on and off the water and wants to help all athletes achieve their personal goals. Sean will make high demands on his athletes that will be countered with his great sense of humor.
After the Games Sean will be travelling to Japan and climbing Mount Fuji with his mom before returning to school for the fall semester.
