CanoeKayak World Cups to be broadcast on Sportsnet OTTAWA – Sports fans across Canada will be able to watch a great
Canadian sport from the comfort of their living rooms. Upcoming
CanoeKayak World Cups will be broadcast on Sportsnet starting this month
as part of a three-year partnership between CanoeKayak Canada and

Viewers can watch the Canadian team in their pursuit to be the fastest
in the world, leading up to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Olympic and defending World Champion, Adam van Koeverden of Oakville, ON
will kick off his international racing season in Poznan, Poland on May
18. The kayaker will be joined by several teammates looking to be on the
podium in Europe.

In addition to medals and glory, results from sprint World Cups will be
used as part of the selection process for the Canadian Olympic Team.
Canada has qualified boats for five sprint events at the London 2012
Olympic Games. Those spots will be hotly contested as the top two
Canadian crews compete against each other and against the World in
several high-stakes matchups. On the slalom side, Michael Tayler of Ottawa will prepare for his first
Olympic Games by taking on the best in the World in Men’s K1. The
20-year-old was selected for the Canadian Olympic Team after edging out
his competitors to prove himself as the fastest in Canada.

CanoeKayak Canada is excited to showcase its elite athletes leading up
to the London 2012 Olympic Games.
