It’s been a great race season on the river this year, and the BC Team
Selection process is complete. There has been lots of promising
performances not only from veteran BC athletes, but also many new
athletes racing for the first time this season. The team is a mix of old
and new paddlers which is great to see. The selection races this year
included the Rich Weiss Memorial Race, the Hope Slough Race, the
Cowichan River Race, and the BC Championships held in conjunction with
the Tamihi 5-O, as well as the National Rankings determined at Team
Trials and the National Championships.

The ranking races along with other criteria is used to determine BC
Athlete Assistance Program Funding. This season CKBC is proud to
announce that Jazmyne Denhollander and Sam Fletcher have been selected
for the BC AAP Funding. Jazmyne will receive $1000 for her 8th place
performance at Junior World Championships, as well as her 1st place
finish at the Senior and Junior National Championships. Sam Fletcher
will receive $500 for his performance at local races and accumulating
the most points of an competitors in the Final BC AAP Points Standings.

Congratulations to all who raced this season and to all those who have
made the BC Team for the 2013 Season. The goal for the BC Team in 2013
will be to represent our province at the National Championships in
Kananakis Alberta at the beginning of August. Nationals is a great event
with many fun competitions for all levels of paddlers!

Attached is the Ranking List so you can see where you earned points and
where you can improve for next season.
