Julia Rivard and Michael Chambers receiving Jubilee medal
Congratulations to Julia Rivard and Michael Chambers on being awarded
the QE II Diamond Jubilee medal through the Canadian Olympic Committee
for their contributions to Canadian sport.

Julia paddled at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games in the Women’s K4 and
placed ninth. Since retiring as an athlete she has dedicated a
significant amount of her time to sport in a volunteer capacity. She was
also part of Canada’s mission team for the 2008 and 2010 Olympic Games.
She has served on several of CanoeKayak Canada’s committees and
currently sits on the Sprint Racing Council as the Vice-Chair,

Michael Chambers is a past commodore of CanoeKayak Canada. He led the
organization from 1986 to 1988. He began representing CanoeKayak on the
Canadian Olympic Committee in 1984 and served as President of the
Canadian Olympic Committee from 2001 to 2010.
