CanoeKayak BC is pleased to announce the Hiring of Blake Dalton as the Provincial Coach.
“Blake’s skills are a great fit with the growing successes in our provincial performance programs. His past experience and passion will ensure continued development of our club coach mentorship program and that all Team BC athletes have ongoing coordinated oversight, “ says Executive Director, Mary Jane Abbott
Dalton has been a coach for the last 16 years. The majority of that time has been with the Pointe-Claire Canoe Club. He has also been involved in several CanoeKayak Canada projects, and most recently, was the Team Leader for the International Canoe Federation’s (ICF) Talent Identification Program at the 2013 ICF Junior and Under 23 Canoe Sprint World Championships.
Dalton began paddling in Calgary, but moved to Victoria to take advantage of the excellent support system and ability to paddle year round while attending university. He has competed at Western Canada Summer Games, Canada Summer Games, and was nominated to the 2003 Senior National Development Team.
“I am excited by the opportunity to work with CanoeKayak BC. I look forward to collaborating with all the British Columbia clubs and help develop and prepare BC athletes and coaches for national and international success,” says Blake.
Beyond paddling, Dalton holds a Bachelor of Arts and Science with Distinction, Bachelor of Laws, and Bachelor of Civil Law.
Dalton will start his new position at the end of October and will be based out of Burnaby.
